About
The Restaurant
Good Morning 96 is a small-plates restaurant and cocktail bar from Chef Gizela Ho, opening in San Francisco in 2027. The menu is modern Californian, built on hyper-seasonal Bay Area produce and refracted through the cuisines that shaped her: Cantonese, Guamanian, and the broader vocabulary of Asian home cooking. Expect a long, shareable list of cold and hot plates alongside a cocktail program drawing from the same global pantry.
The name layers three references: the red-stitched cotton “Good Morning” towels found in every Hong Kong kitchen; Guam’s motto, “Where America’s day begins”; and 1996, the year Gizela’s grandfather opened his restaurant in Hong Kong.
The Chef
Gizela Ho was raised in Guam, with summers in Hong Kong, where her grandfather worked as a street food vendor before opening his own restaurant. She moved to California at eighteen to train at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, then refined her classical technique at the three-Michelin-starred L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Hong Kong before returning to San Francisco. Over nearly a decade at Rich Table, she rose to chef de cuisine, leading the kitchen through a post-pandemic resurgence that earned the restaurant the #3 spot on the San Francisco Chronicle’s Top 100 in 2025.
